About class classification

Boxing is a sport where physique greatly influences victory or defeat.
No matter how skilled the players are, if there is a physical difference, the match will become boring.
Therefore, in order to eliminate the unfairness caused by physical differences, boxing divides athletes into 18 weight classes and establishes a world championship for each weight class.
Each athlete is competing for the world title in their weight class.

When you hear 18 weight classes, you may feel dizzy because there are so many weight classes, but they are usually divided into three main categories: lightweight, middle weight, and heavy weight.
This site defines class divisions as follows.

*Heavy ・・・ Heavy ~ Middle weight
*Middle ・・・ Super Welter ~ Super Feather weight
*Light ・・・ Feather ~ Minimum weight

I don’t think it’s completely out of line with the Japanese sensibilities, but what do you think?
Somehow, super featherweight isn’t a lightweight, Ryota Murata is a heavyweight, right?
This is the author’s completely subjective and sensual classification, so I’m sure there will be disagreements.
It varies from person to person as to where to draw the line.

In England, the birthplace of modern boxing, and the United States, the world’s largest boxing center, there seems to be some debate about defining middleweights as middleweights and the lower weight classes as lightweights, due to their physical size.
If that were the case, 12 of the 18 classes would be classified as lightweight.
Isn’t that a rough definition? I think.

If you count the number of champions in each country within these categories, you will realize something new.
it is,

The strength of the Japanese lightweight class
Overwhelming strength of Americans in the middle weight class
Surprisingly few Americans in the heavyweight division and the rise of British, Mexican, and Russian fighters

It has these characteristics.
